We will go via the 3,050-meter-high Dochu La Pass on our three-hour trip to Punakha, the ancient capital of the Eastern Himalayas. After that, we’ll visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, also referred to as the “Palace of Great Happiness.” Well located at the confluence of the Po Chu and Mo Chu rivers, it was built in 1637.
Sightseeing in Thimphu, Bhutan
Today we return to Paro by car, a four-hour journey. The Paro Rinpung Dzong, one of the most impressive examples of Bhutanese architecture, is a great place to start your afternoon cultural journey of the Paro Valley.

Tiger Nest trek
Trek for a whole day to reach the revered Taktsang monastery, also known as the “Tiger’s Nest,” perched 900 meters above the valley level on a rocky outcrop. It is reported that Guru Rinpoche arrived at the location while riding a tigress.
After that, he spent three months meditating here. It is one of the holiest places in Bhutan and a popular destination for pilgrims from neighboring Buddhist nations as well as from within Bhutan.
