A popular and well-known classic journey worldwide is hiking up to Jomsom and taking a plane to Pokhara via the Annapurna Circuit. We begin our 14-day tour in Kathmandu, where we explore several amazing World Heritage Sites spread throughout the city. We enjoy the constantly shifting landscape and culture of the Annapurna region as we set out on our journey from Syange. Around the Annapurna massif, we cross one of the highest passes in the world, Thorong La (5,416m/17,769ft), enjoy the breathtaking but arid scenery of the Manang valley, and travel to Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal.
We shall be met by a Kantipur Holidays representative at Kathmandu’s Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), after which they will drive us to the hotel of our choice. After checking in, we might visit the Mission Nepal office or have a nap. at the evening, a welcome supper with traditional Nepalese cuisine and a brief cultural presentation will take place at a typical Nepalese restaurant.
After breakfast today, we begin a guided tour of some of Kathmandu’s most significant historical and spiritual landmarks, many of which have been inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List. In Kathmandu, we visit the revered Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the Buddhist shrine Bouddhanath, which is also home to one of the biggest stupas in the world, the famous Swayambhunath “Monkey Temple,” and the historic Durbar Square. We meet up with the other participants for lunch at the Mission Nepal office, where we talk about our itinerary and have our hiking guide inspect our equipment.
We had an early breakfast at the hotel and then left for Syange in Kathmandu. We are shown the breathtaking scenery of Nepal during the trip, which is home to green hills, meandering rivers, terraced farms, and the towering Himalayan Mountain range. When we get to Syange, we check into our lodge and make sure we get enough sleep so we’re ready for the hike that day.
After breakfast in Syange, we start our journey and cross a large bridge close to Tal to enter the Manang district. We pass through barley, rice, and potato fields along the route, and the picturesque waterfalls provide us with entertainment. Finally, after traveling through the town of Kodo, we will reach Dharapani, one of the largest settlements in the Manang valley.
We start our journey again after breakfast today, making our way through multiple landslide-prone areas, up a few steep and forested peaks, and finally arriving at the village of Chame. We will have the chance to stop and take in the breathtaking views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m) along the route. We will also come across a few little hot springs, which offer the ideal setting for some downtime.
After breakfast, we set out on our climb, making our way through a small and steep valley until we catch a glimpse of the Paungda Danda rock race. This striking 1,500-meter-tall granite wall rises sharply from the riverbed. From here, the views of Pisang Peak in the northeast and Annapurna II in the south are breathtaking. After that, we gradually descend to the Manang Valley bottom, where we can take in the breathtaking scenery that surrounds us.
We are given two options for getting to Manang after Pisang, and we choose the upper route that passes through Ghyaru. There is little doubt that this approach offers breath-taking vistas of Pisang Peak, Mt. Annapurna, and other nearby summits. Manang is closer to us, and the weather gets colder and drier. On the other hand, a quick trip to the Barge Monastery—the biggest monastery in the Manang District—will cheer us up.
As today is our acclimatization day, we take a quick hike to Lake Gangapurna or Bhojo Gumba to keep our bodies in shape for the trails ahead. Instead, we could trek to Vraga Village and pay a visit to the Himalayan Rescue Association, which can provide us with important details regarding Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
Visit Ice Lake if you’re an enthusiastic hiker who wants to go on hikes to nearby locations. At an elevation of 4600 meters, Ice Lake is approximately a 4-hour journey away. Magnificent views of the mountains, alpine valleys, and scattered communities may be seen from Ice Lake.
Starting at Manang village, the trail climbs past a stream and reaches Tenki village, situated above Manang. From there, the trail continues northwest, rising out of Marshyangdi Valley and up Jarsang Khola Valley. Following this valley north, the path gains elevation as it passes through a scrub of juniper trees and a few pastures. The trail passes the little town of Ghunsa, which is easily identified by its group of flat mud roofs, just below the trailhead. At this point, the trail crosses meadows where horses and yaks graze. .. The walk winds past a pretty meadow with an old Mani wall and then crosses a tiny river on a wooden bridge to the small town of Yak Kharka. It is advised to rise gently rather than too quickly to avoid altitude issues.
the settlement of Ledar. We continue ascending over massive rocks till we reach the last settlement before Thorong La, Thorang Phedi. On this tour, we will get amazing views of numerous peaks, such as Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak, and Mt. Khatungkan.
Our main goal for today is to reach Thorong La Pass, one of the highest passes in the world. We will travel east to west via the pass that connects Manang and Muktinath. This direction is regarded as the easiest and safest. We will begin our mountain trek to reach the pass at approximately three in the morning. We can snap some photos to remember the event before descending to the Muktinath Valley, which is located at the foot of the Thorong La pass. We will be rewarded with breathtaking views when we reach the peak.
We’ll drive to Jomsom early in the morning in order to catch our earliest flight to Pokhara, also referred to as the “lake city.” After arriving and checking into our hotel, we have the option to relax or explore the lakefront neighborhood, which is close to Fewa Lake. Here, we have the chance to indulge in some local cuisine or buy some souvenirs.
Once our breakfast at the hotel is over, we will head toward Kathmandu. We’ll pause for lunch on the way. We’ll settle into our motels when we get there and take some time to relax. Later, we might stroll through Thamel’s streets at our leisure or go shopping for souvenirs. We will celebrate the successful end of our adventure with a farewell dinner that Kantipur Holidays has planned in the evening.
This is the last day of your journey across Nepal! You can use your time to go through your images and exchange email information with other travelers. A Kantipur Holidays representative will accompany you to the airport around three hours before to your scheduled departure. You’ll have plenty of time on your hands when you get home to organize your next thrilling vacation to Nepal.
