Overview
Situated in the Muktinath Valley, behind the Great Himalayan Range, at an elevation of 3,800 meters, Muktinath is a sacred site for both Buddhists and Hindus. It is accessible via the Annapurna Trekking Route in Mustang, Nepal. Hindu sacred texts like the Ramayana, Barah Purana, and Skanda Purana refer to Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the “place of freedom or moksha” or the location of the Muktinath temple. Pilgrims bathe ceremoniously at 108 miraculous streams of water. There is a sacred temple nearby named Jwala Mai that is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is filled with an unquenchable blue flame.
Thousands of Hindu followers go from all over the world to this temple each year. Thousands of people come to this temple each year because it is one of the most revered locations on earth for Buddhists and Hindus. The priests of this temple are a mix of Hindu gods and Buddhists. It is not allowed for a Jhuma (Priest) of this temple to be married.
The fossil stones known as Shaligram, which Hindus revere, that were discovered sideways to the Kali Gandaki River are partly responsible for the location’s notoriety. According to legend, the fossil stones represent Lord Vishnu in stone form. The pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu has a straightforward architectural design. Its construction is thought to have occurred at the start of the 1800s. Given that the Vishnu idol is estimated to be sixteenth century old. For their devotion to Lord Vishnu, a large number of Hindu pilgrims travel there from Nepal and India. Chumming Gyatsa, meaning “Hundred Waters” in Tibetan, is the name given by Buddhists to it. Despite the temple’s Vaishnava origin, Buddhism also holds great regard for it.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1400m/4594ft.
A representative from Mission Nepal will meet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu and transport you to your accommodation. After checking in, you are free to relax or go to the Kantipur Holidays office.
Mission Nepal will organize a welcome meal later in the evening where you may sample the local cuisine and savor delicious, authentic Nepalese cuisine. Meeting other tourists and getting to know your tour guide will be greatly facilitated by this possibility.
Day 2 : Sightseeing in Kathmandu
We will start our guided tour of four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu after breakfast. The first destination will be Kathmandu Durbar Square, the former royal residence of the ancestors of the Kathmandu Kingdom.
The Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest places on earth for Hindus, will be our next stop. We will also visit some of Kathmandu’s most well-known Buddhist stupas, such as Swayambhunath, which lies in the center of the city and is sometimes referred to as the Monkey Temple because of the abundance of monkeys that live there.
Lastly, we will travel to Bouddhanath, one of the biggest stupas in the world and a well-liked tourist attraction and Buddhist pilgrimage center in Kathmandu. There are more than fifty Tibetan gompas, or monasteries, in the Boudhnath area. You’ll have a fantastic chance to fully experience Nepal’s rich cultural and religious legacy throughout this tour.
Day 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara 822m/2696ft.
We travel to Pokhara, often known as The Lake City because of its many lakes, after eating breakfast. Upon arriving in Pokhara, we are greeted with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, which include the five peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,794ft), Manaslu (8,156m/26,759ft), and Machhapuchhre (6,993m/22,943ft). We then proceed to our hotel to check in and rest. We may explore the city’s charming streets and go boating in Fewa Lake to pass the time peacefully.
Day 4 : Fly to Jomsom 2713m/8898ft.
It’s one of Nepal’s most picturesque flights to travel from Pokhara to Jomsom. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes to fly from Pokhara to Jomsom. As soon as we get in Jomsom, we settle into the hotel and go exploring on our own. For travelers who want to experience the Mustang region and the Kali Gandaki valley, Jomsom is a well-liked location. Jomsom offers breathtaking views of several mountains, including Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Tukuche, Mt. Nilgiri, and Mt. Dhaulagiri.
Day 5 : Drive to Muktinath temple 3800m/12467ft., explore the place and return back to Jomsom
We started driving for Muktinath early in the morning. For pilgrims who practice Buddhism and Hinduism, this is one of the holiest places on earth. You’ll see apple orchards, charming villages, and the Kali Gandaki River as you travel. We arrive to Muktinath after an hour’s trip. We visit the area and carry out various ceremonies at Muktinath. We make our way back to Jomosm for the night in the evening.
Day 6 : Fly back to Pokhara, sightseeing in Pokhara
We travel to Pokhara early in the morning by morning flight. We left Pokhara at dawn for Sarangkot, a hilltop location with breathtaking views of the main city to the south and the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges to the north. From Naudanda, we’ll start our climb and eventually arrive at Sarangkot, where we’ll stop at a hotel to watch the stunning sunset over the towering Himalayas. We will also be able to see the lush Fewa Lake and the city of Pokhara from this vantage point.
Day 7 : Drive back to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we leave Pokhara and say goodbye to the breathtaking vista of the city to the north. We will travel via riverbanks on our way to Kathmandu, where we will be treated to beautiful vistas of the highlands and rural Nepalese life. We will rest and check into the hotel as we get closer to the city.
Mission Nepal will provide a farewell supper in the evening to commemorate our journey’s successful conclusion.
Day 8 : Final Departure
Today marks the end of our journey across Nepal! We are going to be transported to the airport roughly three hours prior to the planned flight by a representative of Mission Nepal.
